Playniac wins place on Nesta’s Creative Business Mentor Network

STOP PRESS: Playniac and Mike Hayes featured in Nesta case study.

We’re very excited to have won a place as one of 25 companies on Nesta’s Creative Business Mentor Network, which is “designed to nurture the UK’s most exciting creative businesses with an appetite for growth”.

We’re also delighted that our mentor will be none other than Mike Hayes, former President and CEO of SEGA Europe and SEGA USA. We’re really looking forward to working with him and having his input over the next 6-12 months.

Writing about the scheme in Edge, Mike said “Through my work life I have helped smart, creative entrepreneurs sell their dream which has been a privilege, and I want to share what I have learnt with new up and coming stars of the future (…) Britain is an engine room for creativity, and through mentoring I hope I can assist in helping new businesses succeed – and maybe I’ll find the next Nintendo while I’m at it.”

Jon Kingsbury, director of Nesta’s creative economy programmes, said, “The mentors are passionate about the creative sector and volunteer their time as a way of giving something back. They share practical advice on overcoming the challenges of running a creative business and have helped a variety of creative companies build business success. Over the next year, the mentors will work with the successful businesses to provide an outside view and guidance on taking an idea or issue and turning into a success. Mentoring can make a real impact on a business and its future triumphs.”

UKIE also announced how the scheme now includes “promising games companies”.

The Creative Business Mentor Network is run by Nesta in partnership with PACT, IPA, UKIE, Hospital Club and Skillset.
